You will not be headache
Not a day goes by I don’t get at least one solicitation for a wine or spirits producer to sell their products in Thailand. Usually, its some atrocious wine from a far away place like Moldova that no one in their right mind would drink and these e-mails normally are filled with the most unbelievable and far-fetched boasts about the product’s quality, history and pedigree you could imagine.
Today I received a solicitation from a winery in China that wins the gold medal for wine olympics of absurd claims and ridiculous grammatical and cultural slip ups. I just have to share it with you. This winery goes by the implausible name Hebei Hengshui Laobaigan and claims to be established in 1946 before the nationwide ‘liberation’ (guess that depends on how you look at it) and now is listed on the stock exchange with more than 4000 employees and 1.3 million square meters of production facility.
That’s a pretty damn big winery so I wanted to take a look at their product line. Reading on I discovered the wine was very famous in China a very long time ago based on its special tastes. According to the e-mail the wine was even awarded a ‘golden’ medal in the Panama International Expo in 1915. Pretty neat trick for a winery founded in 1946, don’t you think?
Not to worry, the Chinese government vouches for this product. Hebei Hengshui Laobaigan was awarded the ‘China Famous Product’ award because its quality is so good that according to the e-mail, ‘you will not be headache even you have already vomit after drink too much.’
